Silk CMS
Posted on June 13th, 2008 5 commentsIt probably sounds like vaporware but I assure you I’ve been working on a content management system built on the Zend Framework. I’ve settled on the name Silk CMS which I’m hoping to bribe one of our designers to make a logo for. I think the name lends itself to a nifty motto “Weave the web” with a friendly spider as its mascot. Hopefully this has not been done already as it seems very clever to me.
I’ve started a google code project page already and as soon as I finish writing an installer for the cms I plan on releasing it into the wild in all of its immature beauty. I’m feeling pretty good about it as it has been battle hardened with a number of websites I am deploying with it.
Stay tuned.

Hi, great! when will the source be available?

I’m hoping to release it within a month. At the end of this month I’m deploying a huge website built with it and I still need to write an installer for it. Installation is still a pretty manual process right now

Any news on the installer progress for silk cms? Really interested in having a look at the source code, as the posts about modular architecture have me intrigued.

I’ve actually been spending some time this week refactoring some of the foundation classes and cleaning up the database schema. I foresee a release very soon. I’ll make sure to do a big post for it.
